Opinions on latest VRII hospital guidelines wanted

Feedback is needed from healthcare professionals working in diabetes on the existing guidance regarding the use of Variable Rate Insulin Infusion (VRII) in hospital settings.

To optimise VRII hospital guidelines, a group of distinguished clinicians at The Joint British Diabetes Society for Inpatient Care (JBDS-IP) have launched an audit for healthcare professionals to complete.

Dr Ahmed Al-Sharefi, Dr Stella George and Professor Ketan Dhatariya are asking Diabetes Consultants, Diabetes Registrars and Diabetes Specialist Nurses to complete the survey about the way they use VRII on people with diabetes who have been admitted to hospital.

When people with diabetes or hospital-related hyperglycaemia cannot consume food or drink, a VRII is used to help manage and sustain their insulin levels.

Healthcare professionals can submit their views until the audit closing date, Friday December 24, 2021.

JBDS-IP is aiming to improve inpatient diabetes care throughout the UK by advancing and using high-quality, evidence-based guidelines and inpatient care pathways.
