Submissions sought for JBDS Co-Chair role

The Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care is looking to recruit a dedicated healthcare professional as the new Co-Chair of the group.

As an important member of the team, the new Co-Chair will offer their continuous support in the running of the Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care (JBDS).

The JBDS develops various documents and resources that aim to improve inpatient care for people with diabetes.

Additionally, the group contributes to several organisations involved in the care of people with diabetes more widely.

It is supported by the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD), the Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nurse Group, and Diabetes UK.

Working in partnership with the Chair, the Co-Chair will help manage the group and will be responsible for ensuring that the renowned JBDS guidelines are up to date on a yearly basis.

In addition, the individual will also be responsible for any aspect that enhances the profile of diabetes inpatient care and improves hospital care for people with diabetes.

The successful applicant must demonstrate an interest in caring for people with diabetes when admitted to hospital.

Working on a voluntary basis, the successful candidate is expected to work on a four-year rota, with the aim of becoming the Chair during the last two years.

The current Chair was elected in 2019 and will pass this role onto the Co-Chair in 2023. Succeeding Co-Chairs will then be selected on this basis.

The successful applicant must bring an administrator to help with the role. At this time, there are funds for seven hours per week, Band three.

To apply, submit you CV along with a cover letter explaining why you should be considered for the role to ketan.dhatariya@nnuh.nhs.uk.

The application deadline is Friday, April 30, and interviews are expected to take place in June.
