Upcoming diabetes webinar to focus on the management of psychiatric disorders in inpatient settings

Diabetes specialists are invited to attend a webinar which will discuss how to manage mental health disorders in people with diabetes who are admitted to hospital.

Entitled ‘The management of diabetes in adults and children with psychiatric disorders in inpatient settings’, the virtual event will explore how to reduce the number of mental health complications among people with diabetes in inpatient settings.

In addition, the webinar will highlight the increased risk of mortality in people with diabetes and mental health disorders.

It will also promote the need for local audits, research and a development of services to improve care for people with diabetes and a psychiatric disorder.

Hosted by the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) and approved by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, the online session will take place on Thursday, April 7, between 5pm and 6pm.

Dr Hermione Price, Consultant Diabetologist at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, will host the webinar alongside Dr Omar Mustafa, Consultant Diabetologist at King’s College Hospital.

They will also be joined by Professor Khalida Ismail, Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

At the end of the session, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a live Q&A with the speakers.

Organisers have announced that one CPD credit and a certificate of attendance will be issued to those who joined the live webinar.
