Upcoming webinar to explore how obesity care can be improved in the UK

A free webinar for healthcare professionals will discuss the optimal ways that obesity care should be provided in Britain based on experiences with the tiered system.

In addition, the online event will also explore how the introduction of obesity pharmacotherapy could serve as an impetus to improve the care given to obese individuals.

Entitled ‘How will recent developments in obesity management change obesity services’, the virtual workshop will take place on Tuesday, November 23, between 7pm and 8pm.

A renowned panel of experts will participate in the session, with Alex Miras, Consultant in Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine at Imperial College London, set to lead the discussion.

Chairing the meeting will be Professor Barbara McGowan, Consultant Endocrinologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.

Joining them on the panel include David Hopkins, Consultant Physician and Diabetologist, Professor Jennifer Logue, Professor John Wass, Professor of Endocrinology at Oxford University and John Wilding, Clinical Research Lead into Obesity, Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University of Liverpool.

Research studies have revealed that the UK has the highest level of obesity in Europe, with more than 28% of Brits being classed as obese.

Individuals who are obese are more at risk of going on to develop type 2 diabetes compared to people who are not obese.
