The new Chair of the Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nurses (DISN) UK Group has vowed he will be “robust and dynamic” in his new role.
Erwin Castro, who is a Diabetes Nurse Consultant for Inpatient and Education at the East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, has been confirmed as the new replacement.
Having worked within the field of diabetes for more than 12 years, Erwin brings with him a vast amount of experience.
He said: “I would like to aspire for a more robust and dynamic Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nursing network responsive to the ever changing landscape of acute diabetes services provision.
“I would also aspire to help develop a more consistent approach to diabetes inpatient care in close collaboration with DISN teams across the country and other leading organisations with the same ethos and objectives.”
Founded in February 2004, the DISN UK is a charity the aim is to provide a forum for DISNs to share ideas, best practice and offer peer support, striving to effect change and influence practice.
As a group it provides a confidential, non-judgemental environment to discuss issues affecting inpatient care and now has more than 500 members across England, Scotland and Wales.
