Two DISNs selected to join JBDS Committee

Two “outstanding” nurses selected to join the JBDS committee have been announced.

Diabetes inpatient specialist nurses Andrea Lake from Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge and Liz Camfield from Guys & St Thomas Hospital have been chosen to join the group after they impressed the panel with their work.

Chosen by Professor Gerry Rayman, Dr Omar Mustafa and Professor Ketan Dhatariya they have been asked to become an integral part of JBDS.

Their roles will include being part of discussions on the direction that JBDS will go, helping to update and revise the existing guidelines, promoting its work, and helping to write new guidelines.

Professor Dhatariya, Chair of JBDS, said: “It was an outstanding field and we were spoiled for choice, but Andrea and Liz’s work stood out for us.

“I’d like to thank each person who put their names forward. It was not an easy decision and each one was doing outstanding work in their own Trust, with many making really valuable and significant contributions to inpatient diabetes regionally and nationally.

“The energy and enthusiasm that every applicant displayed for inpatient diabetes came across very strongly, and it was a pity that we did not have more spaces to fill.”
